Thailand Privilege Visa 2026: The Bronze Tier Closes on 30 September

September 9, 2026

Table of Contents

Thailand Privilege's Bronze membership, the program's lowest-cost five-year tier, closes to new applicants on 30  September 2026. From October the entry point rises to the next tier, which costs more and runs for the same five  years. Anyone who has been considering a long-stay Thai visa on the Bronze terms has until the end of this month to  apply. Below: what the tiers cost, who they suit, and how the two alternatives, the Destination Thailand Visa and the  Long-Term Resident visa, compare.

At a glance

  • Thailand Privilege (formerly Thailand Elite) is a membership program run by Thailand Privilege Card Co. Ltd, a  subsidiary of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, granting multi-year residence privileges.
  • Bronze: THB 650,000, five years, closing to new applicants on 30 September 2026.
  • Gold, Platinum and Diamond tiers run from five to fifteen years at higher fees, with more services and family  options.
  • The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) suits remote workers and long-stay visitors at a far lower fee, with 180-day  stays over five years.
  • The Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa suits wealthy pensioners, professionals and investors who meet income or  asset tests, and carries tax advantages.

What is Thailand Privilege and why does Bronze matter?

Thailand Privilege is not a residence-by-investment program in the European sense. There is no property  purchase and no path to citizenship. It is a paid membership that comes with a renewable long-stay visa, airport fast track, and a concierge layer of services, and it has been the route of choice for people who want to live in Thailand  for years without qualifying as a retiree, employee or investor.

Bronze has been the program's most popular tier because it strips the membership back to the visa itself. At THB  650,000 for five years it costs roughly a fifth of the Diamond tier and gives the same right to stay. Its closure removes  the cheapest way into the program; from October the calculation for a single applicant changes.

What do the tiers cost and what do they include?

The program lists four public tiers and an invitation-only Reserve tier. The fees below are those published for 2026.

  • Bronze: THB 650,000, five years, one member, closing 30 September 2026.
  • Gold: THB 900,000, five years, with airport services and limited privileges.
  • Platinum: THB 1,500,000, ten years, with the option to add family members at a fee.
  • Diamond: THB 2,500,000, fifteen years, the fullest service package.
  • Reserve: THB 5,000,000, twenty years, by invitation.

Each tier grants a five-year multiple-entry visa, extended in five-year blocks for the longer memberships, with an  annual reporting requirement while in Thailand. Members can stay year-round; there is no minimum or maximum stay.

How does the Destination Thailand Visa compare?

The DTV, launched in July 2024, was designed for remote workers, freelancers and people attending long courses  or medical treatment. It is valid for five years, permits stays of up to 180 days at a time (extendable once), requires  evidence of funds of THB 500,000, and costs a fraction of any Privilege tier. It does not permit employment for a Thai  employer.

For a digital professional who is happy to leave and re-enter every six months, the DTV does most of what Bronze  did. For someone who wants an uninterrupted stay, a concierge, and no need to justify the purpose of residence, the  Privilege program remains the answer.

Who should look at the Long-Term Resident visa instead?

The LTR visa, administered through the Board of Investment, is a ten-year visa for four groups: wealthy global  citizens (assets of at least US$1 million and annual income of at least US$80,000, with a Thai investment), wealthy  pensioners, work-from-Thailand professionals, and highly skilled professionals. It carries a flat 17% personal income  tax rate for highly skilled professionals, exemption from the requirement that foreign-source income brought into  Thailand is taxed, and a lighter reporting regime.

For applicants who qualify, the LTR is usually the better visa. Its income and asset tests exclude many of the people  Bronze served, which is why the two programs have coexisted.

What should an applicant do before 30 September?

A Bronze application requires a passport copy, a photograph, the application form and the fee, and is subject to a  background check that has typically taken several weeks. Applications are dated on submission, so a complete file  lodged before the closing date should be processed on Bronze terms even if approval arrives in October; Passport  Legacy will confirm this treatment with the program for each applicant before submission.

Thailand sits at the centre of Passport Legacy's Southeast Asian client base, and the closing of Bronze is the kind of  date that separates people who wanted to act from people who did. Applicants who miss it are not without options;  they are simply choosing between a higher Privilege tier, the DTV, or the LTR, and the right one depends on how  they intend to live in Thailand.

Frequently asked questions

Does Thailand Privilege lead to permanent residence or citizenship?

No. It is a long-stay visa program. Thailand's permanent residence and naturalisation routes have separate  requirements, including years of work-permit residence and language ability.

Can family members be included?

Family members can be added on the Platinum and Diamond tiers at an additional fee per person. Bronze and Gold  are single-member tiers.

Is the Thailand Privilege fee refundable?

No. The membership fee is paid once for the full term and is not refundable, which is one reason to choose the tier  carefully.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

What is the difference between citizenship and residency by investment programmes?

Citizenship by investment programmes may not require physical residency and can grant citizenship within 2 to 6 months. Residency by investment programmes grant residency within 3 months but not citizenship. To obtain citizenship through residency programmes, applicants must comply with legal requirements, such as residing in the country for a certain time and paying taxes. However, not all residency programmes lead to citizenship, as it's at the discretion of the government.

How much does it cost to apply for a second passport?

The minimum investment for a second citizenship by a single applicant is USD 100,000 which is the cost associated for for St. Lucia and the Commonwealth of Dominica's CBI programmes. Please contact us for an exact price breakdown.

Do we need to pay the full amount upfront?

Passport Legacy's CBI programmes require payment in three installments. The first payment is 5%, the second payment is 25%, and the final payment, which amounts to 70% of the total cost, is due after receiving Approval in Principle.

What documents are required?

To start the process, applicants need to provide us with KYC (know your customer) documents such as a passport copy, birth and marriage certificates, police certificates, bank reference, and health clearance. Some documents may require translation or legalisation, but our client advisors will guide you through the process.

Do I need to renounce my original passport?

Acquiring a second citizenship by investment in any country does not usually require renouncing one's original nationality under the citizenship law of the country where citizenship was obtained through investment.
